We are Physical Reality Inc — PRI for short, pr.inc when we’re feeling brief. We did not pick the name because it sounded grand. We picked it because it is, literally, the subject matter: the thing robots must understand, and the thing they exist to change.
What we believe
Enough to form an opinion about us. Some of these will read as obvious, some as wrong. We are comfortable with both reactions — the technology is moving well enough that we expect to settle the argument with shipped software rather than posts.
Intelligence that never touches the world is unfinished. Text in, text out is a remarkable achievement and an incomplete one. The frontier is where symbols meet phenomena.
Generality is earned from the ground up. A robot that deeply understands its own body and situation generalizes. One trained to imitate everything understands nothing in particular — including where it is wrong.
Demos are not evidence. Evaluation against reality — repeatable, adversarial, boring — is. We build the boring machinery first and let it keep us honest.
Precision beats scale when the world pushes back. Scale is a multiplier on whatever you have. Multiplying an ungrounded model produces confident nonsense with better production values.
The loop is the product. Understanding that doesn’t drive action is trivia; action that doesn’t update understanding is flailing. We sell the circle, not either arc.
If this reads as contrarian, good. A thesis everyone nods along to is priced in. We like the division — it tells us the question is still open, and open questions are where companies get built.
One stroke, closed
Our ring is hand‑painted in a single continuous stroke — navy, rust, ochre, sage — ending where it began. In Zen practice the ensō is drawn in one breath: a mind and a hand in the same moment, committed, unretouchable. It is the most compact statement of our thesis we know: understanding flowing into action and back, one circle, no seam.
